Mansur Bildik

He was born 1949 in Tunceli. His father has been a good Saz player in that region. Through him, he learned Saz when he was still a child. Because of the bad economic situation of his family and because he lost his father at the age of twelve, he could not continue to study music. But still he was occupied with music most of the time in his childhood.
 
1965 He attained his first systematic music lessons and advanced Saz lessons in the Halk Evi (an institution for popular education) in Adana. His teacher Ahmet Aydin recommended him to his collegues in Istanbul that they could support him. That was an important step in the world of music. He worked together with professional musicians. In the beginning of the 70ies he met the maestroes of TRT Izmir and had the honour to collaborate with them. Thus he increased his repertoiry. The great musicians he met were Mustafa Hossu, Talip Özkan, the late Yilmaz Ipek and Ahmed Günday.
 
1975 He was the winner of music competition of TRT-Izmir. The jury consisted of the great authorities late Nida Tüfekçi, Mustafa Geceyatmaz, Yücel Pasmakçi, Mustafa Hossu, late Yilmaz Ipek and Talip Özkan. He got the right to represent TuncelHe region as a Saz player at the TRT-Izmir.
 
At that time he performed music in Turkey and internationally with Sükran Ay, Kamuran Akkor, Alaaddin Sensoy, Selahattin Erorhan, HakkHe Bulut, Ibrahim Tatlises, Ahmet Sezgin, NurHe Sesigüzel, Yildiray Çinar, Ahmet Günday, Erkan Ocakli, Asik Davud Sulari, Asik Daimi, Asik Kul Ahmet, Riza Konyali, Mustafa Keser, Talip Özkan, Zafer Gündogdu, Halil Karaduman, NecatHe Çelik, Ercan Irmak, Ali Ekber Çiçek, Nesat Ertas.
 
1976-1980 He gave concerts in westerneuropean towns from Austria to England and in the 90ies also in Poland and the Czech Republic.
 
Since 1980 he has been living in Vienna. This town is being called the world capital of music - his life´s philosophy led him here so that he could dedicate his life to music. His aim has been to popularize and internationalize both turkish music and Saz.
 
1984 he began to teach Saz at the Franz Schubert Konservatory, an institution with a tradition of 125 years. He occupied himself with piano and harmony to find contact zones and possibilites for fusion between western and eastern music.
 
On several occasions he performed in radio, TV and in live-concerts. He was invited to many festivals, seminaries and conferences as a Saz-Virtuoso and expert.
 
Since 1990 he is teaching and trying to propagate the Saz in adult education classes, which are important institutions in Austrian culture policy. In the summer of 1993 he founded the Saz Association of Vienna together with turkish and austrian academics and art lovers to increase the popular interest for his musical instrument. For some years he remained the President of that association. He raised the fascination of people of diverse social and regional origin for the Saz and they became members and pupils. Some of them were very activ in the commity of the association and he eagerly let them become head of the association because in that position they are able to do more for Saz than himself. He concentrated on music and pedagogy.
 
Besides, he found tihim to marry in 1987. His wife Suna presented him with two children Aydost and Aycan and we are living together in Vienna.
 

In 2005 he made the music of the movie Die Schrift des Freundes togeter with the Austrian guitarist Stefan Bernheimer.

In 2006 he made the music of the movie Südost Richtung Mekka (by Alina Tretinjak).

In 2006 he participated at Mozart Alla Turca (in the year of Mozart 2006 in Austria) with two workshops and a Saz Concert.
